Abstract
A Choledochocele (type III choledochal cyst) is a cystic or diverticular dilatation of intramural part of the terminal biliary tree protruding into the duodenal lumen. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography is very useful for a correct diagnosis. The choice of the treatment of choledochal cyst is surgical resection, because of possibility of malignant transformation and biliary obstruction. But choledochocele, reported to have very low potential of malignant transfomation, high risk operative complications and morbidity, has been advocated as an alternative to treatment by endoscopic sphincterotomy. We report a case of choledocholcele successfully treated by endoscopic sphincterotomy.
